I discovered Kym at a SAG-AFTRA workshop in Los Angeles (she is the head of the Mindset Department at the LA Conservatory) and was inspired by her combination of practical and - for lack of a better term - spiritual knowledge. She is extremely giving of her extensive knowledge in this book, where you can learn everything from marketing advice to caring for your physical health. She works consistently because she is talented, professional and driven - this book can give you the tools to be the latter two. After reading this book and coaching with Kym for just a few months, I have increased my callback rate by three times and have the confidence to self-pitch, something I had never attempted before. I attribute the bulk of this to the mindset shifts achieved through Kym’s methods. This book is a must read.

Whilst it is primary aimed at the acting fraternity, much of the information is still relative to those of us in industry related positions.Unlike many other broad spectrum 'travel guides', this book delves into the nitty gritty of getting around town (particularly during peak hour), where to shop and basically - how to survive!Not sure how the kindle version will hold up, but a soft covered version would soon become well-worn, dog-eared and coffee stained from over-use.

I just received "The Hollywood Survival Guide for Actors" through the mail on Saturday, 4/11, after ordering it on Amazon. I must say that I have not been able to put it down! I have been acting for 7 years with the one and only goal of becoming a working actor and never realized how hard it is to get some direction on what to do first, or second, or third.When this book showed up I felt like I was at a stand still. I want to get out of Baltimore and take my talents to LA but didnt know where to start. No one ever told me that trying to get help can sometimes be like pulling teeth, or even worst, trying to get information on auditioning in LA is almost like a secret society. This book is now my new acting bible! I take it everywhere!Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! You wont regret it!I am adjsuting my resume. As an aspiring actor who's just made the move to Los Angeles, I've found myself going back to the Guide time and time again. From personal budget estimates to job descriptions of the different players in the game; from overviews of union contracts and the types of work they cover to summaries of the personal marketing efforts necessary for success; from explanations of various training options available to networking tips and beyond, Kym provides a wealth of information in an easy to read format that answered most all of my questions, plus many more I didn't even think to consider. The section on the best roads for navigating rush hour was worth the cost of the book alone! (believe me, the traffic is everything it's cracked up to be, and then some)I'm still a newbie in this town, but I know this will be a resource I come back to. It's saved me time and headaches already, and put real structure behind my efforts going forward.Thanks so much for sharing.
Great book, lots of hand-on practical advice about living in Hollywood as well as pure acting advice. I am not an actor, but know many and work with them all the time and I reccomend this all the time.
