I've used Genki and Nakama, but I absolutely love Genki. I've used it in class and on my own. The terms are useful and the grammar is easy to understand. Would recommend for people who are in class and need the book, or people who are self-taught Japanese students.For those of you who are self-taught, it might be a good idea to get the workbook or at least do all of the activities and use a key or the CDs to check your answers.

I began studying Japanese language with the orange Genki book, four semesters ago. I find this the best text on the market. I am now entering my 5th semester and ready to take on the green book.The book is laid out in an easy to follow style beginning with a dialogue, new vocabulary, and grammar points. In the last half of the chapter there are drills that help you with each grammar point. In the back there are kanji drills and other useful language phrases and situational tips. The text is clear and easy to follow. This is a comprehensive language course.I highly recommend this text.

I've tried many things, Rosetta Stone,Internet help web sites, audio tapes, almost everything you can imagine to learn japanese. But the Genki textbooks are what has really worked for me. If you put enough time and energy into dedicating yourself to studying the books material. You will definitely be on a good start with your journey into learning Japanese. I do wish there was a book 3.

This book is amazing as for learning Japanese. I got this book for my class and it does helps out a lot. They way they integrate English into japanese makes it so much easier to understand. It really helps me put my sentences together as I write or speak it, which is a plus for me or anyone willing to learn. I would also recommend the first book as well so it can get you prepared for this version.

Got to speak the Japanese I learned from Genki for a lot of situations in Japan recently, people love it when you don't have to use hand signals and stare at them confused like a deer in headlights. Great stuff, buy it.

Had to have this for my second level university class and it is a very nice book. With this and the work book, it is perfect of class or self teaching. I am using this to help teach my sister and it is very nice in explaining different concepts of the language

I bought this during my first year class and it helped me get through so much! If you’re just starting out on Japanese, I definitely recommend getting this book on top of the required book!

Worth the money, and dont just rely on this book purchase or same series. Learn from others sources as well to become well rounded out.

The best part of the book for me was that within the first 50 pages, Dr Covey laid out the "See-Do-Get" framework in a very concise manner. That I was going through a personal turmoil and desperately looking for wisdom helped in grasping the essence (at least that's what I think) of the book quickly.The anatomy of "synergy" as suggested by Dr. Covey, lies in the true and meaningful understanding of self, others and then using those insights to reach out and co-create what may not have been possible before. Conflict is inevitable. It is not something that we can escape from. And as much as we can claim that differences are to be celebrated, Dr. Covey provides a very clear analysis that differences can be celebrated only when we take the time and effort to truly and deeply understand each other. He goes further to outline a prescription on how to reach out to each other and create possibilities, effectively giving the term "brainstorming" a new definition.I found a lot of similarity in the core concepts with those presented in the book "Debunking the Leadership Myth: The Story of Conscious Leadership". In both books, what comes across as a recommendation is NOT to start with our behaviors but our drivers - our belief systems, our attitudes, our very sense of being. It is only when we see ourselves deeply, candidly and acknowledge ourselves fully that we can do the same for others. And those insights are the right foundations for subsequent behaviors which in turn, lead to meaningful outcomes/results.After laying out the conceptual framework, Dr. Covey narrates multiple applications of the same extending both the theory for specific situations (dealings with business colleagues, dealings with children, spouse, relatives etc) and substantiating the situation specific context with anecdotes. While one can question the anecdotes, the simplicity and the appeal of the synergy framework is undoubted. If I can summarize - the book provides a fairly potent tool in one's journey of mindfulness.

Anyone familiar with The 7 Habit of Highly Effective People is familiar with each of the habits. Although the book and its related classes and workshops go into detail on all of the habits, the 6th Habit in particular, "Synergize", is one that is in essense its own topic. This book adds depth to that particular habit because it really is the culmination of the foundation laid by all the other habits. I enthusiastically recommend this book to anyone that has read the 7 Habits and/or taken its workshops. I do add one caveat in that if you're not familiar with the 7 Habits, don't start with this book. Read that one first, otherwise the concepts in this book would be very difficult to follow all the way through.

This book was another of Stephen Covey's eye-opening revelations of obvious truth that is the hallmark of his work. It is very thought provoding.

This is a great problem solving tool and would be a valuable asset to anyone. The timeless principles outlined are like a compass that shows a better way. If you are in management you also need to read the Eigth Habit and watch the short movies that come with the book. Congratulations to AB Coombes Elementary for taking the principals extolled by Mr. Covey and instilling them in the minds of the young ones, this is really inspiring and shows there are answers to the education crisis the USA is facing.

Stephen Covey was one of the most significant thought-leaders in my lifetime. The guidance obtained in the seven habits and principle centered leadership have had a great influence on my life professionally and personally. In working with leading businesses today, I see the need for more exposure to his guidance and this book is another example of his sharing these timeless fundamentals.
