I am a yoga teacher trainer and this will become my constant companion for both myself and to use in our trainings. It includes a comprehensive list of asana names and translations presented in alphabetical order with very, precise linear illustrations. This section alone is invaluable. The accompanying CD states the sanskrit term twice so that you may repeat it back and follows with the English translation (so you know the meaning of what you just said!). In addition to asana, the guide includes the sun salutation sequences, the first 3 astanga sequences, seven common mudras or hand gestures, common chants for your practice, several of the key sutras and a vast collection of yoga terms- numbers, yamas, niyamas, animals, bandhas, cakras, body parts and more.The book is very organized and easy to use. I bought this book/CD combination in order to get a better idea of how Sanskrit is pronounced. The author has a wonderful speaking voice and clearly articulates the words and chants in the text. I am also happy that the chants are sung without the accompaniment of distracting musical instruments.

It includes such categories as body parts, asana names, important sanskrit terms and some chants.The voice on the CD is easily understandable and you can either use the CDs with or without the guide. This reference also includes the alphabet and sanskrit terms in both original script and transliterated forms.The material in this set is easily digestible and it is spirally bound for ease of reference. In addition, it is printed on high quality paper and for the cost it is an incredible bargain.If you want to refine your pronunciation even more, then I would also pick up Sanskrit Pronunciation. This gives you even more practice and fuller explanations of tranliterationed Sanskrit. There is also more focus on commonly occurring philosophical terms.You can view more of my recommendations for yoga resources on my profile under my listmania lists. This is the greatest book ever created. We have only ever met one person whose birthday page wasn't extremely accurate for them, and we've looked up everyone we know! We use it as a tool in parenting, taking into account our childrens' different personalities and character traits, and it helps a lot! When I find myself thinking one of the kids is being very trying lately, I'll flip to their page in the book and usually find something on the page that helps me figure out what might be the cause. For example, one of our kids tends to act up when they are nervous or upset about something and their page specifies anxiety and negativity as an issue for them. It helps remind me that she tends to stew on things and I can usually get to the bottom of it. The book is also a great coffee table piece! Guests love to look their birthdays up (and their friends' and family as well!) This is our second copy, the first is worn out!

I recently became very interested in horoscopes and purchase a book, "The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need" and I really wanted to look for a more descriptive book in regards to birthdays and horoscopes. First, I am not really a follower of astrology. I've had my chart done for fun, and look at the newspaper's daily horoscope maybe 6 times a year. Having said that, this book is SPOOKY ACCURATE. I've purchased this for most of my family members who are like me - we know our signs and a few attributes, that's it. They all love it and it becomes fun reading at gatherings of friends and family. If you or someone you know has a casual acquaintance with astrology it's fun. If y'all are into it, it will blow your minds.

I saw this book first at a friend's house and loved it so much I ordered it when I got home. I put it on my book shelf and some friends came over a while later. we opened it up and noticed the pages in my book are jumbled and some chunks are even missing! I'm so disappointed! :(

My favorite book for only Thirty something dollars! It's normally sell for fifty in bookstores, but I saw it on here and had to get it. It's loaded with information you never even known about each individual person's birthdates! I showed to a friend a long time ago, (used to borrow from a friend.) he said, "That's a lot of information." He's right! You can lookup a persons birthdate and it'll tell you your strengths and weaknesses, the ruling number, the zodiac symbols and signs and the persons birthstone. It's loaded with a brief paragraphs of people whose birthdays are related to you of past history. The first time I ran into this book was from a neighborhood friend. I borrowed it and loved what I read. It gives a personal understanding of your star sign. A characteristic review of yourself. I always share my book with friends who comes over and they like to read their star sign. Things that are true about you. This is a special book to me. I recommend this to anyone interested to just know. You can read about your relatives, friends, acquaintances and anyone. I like reading my star sign. It's true what they said. I love my ruling number and use it all the time in sets. It's funny how someone could write such a book. A book of truth. This would make a wonderful birthday or christmas gift!

As a book I love it, but I realized today that my copy, ordered in 2014, is missing pages! It goes from sept 5 to sept 22. I feel this is poor quality control

For anyone especially anyone who is even slightly into horoscopes or astrology. It’s so crazy how dead on this book is!! My family had had it for years and we always check the birthday of everyone new that comes into our lives . I ordered this one for someone as a gift and their birthday was exact !! It was crazy!!! And we checked his daughter and hers was spot on too!!! I just ordered another on for my mother in law

This book is a fun read and would be great for a get together with friends. The readings were all very insightful and surprisingly accurate for me and each person I looked up (about 10 people so far!). This could just be confirmation bias, but even so, I feel that astrology is a great tool to explore one's self and discover hidden aspects of it they may not have thought about before. This is definitely a fun book to have, perfect for any astrology collection! Of course, each birthday reading should be taken with a grain of salt, but overall I think this book was really insightful and on point! It also has some pretty good advice and I especially love the recommended meditation mantras.

Philippa Gregory is the author of many New York Times bestselling novels, including The Other Boleyn Girl, and is a recognized authority on women’s history. I only paid $2.99 for this book (check out bookbub!), but I paid too much. I truly enjoy most of PG's novels, but take them with a grain of salt. I always read a reliable source (such as Alison Weir) if I really want to read what is actually known about a given monarch. PG does so well bringing facts alive, but takes liberties everywhere. Regarding this novel: it is the same material, repeated (using some of the same words and phrases), over and over and over again. Some reviewers have mentioned this, but truly, it would be laughable if it weren't so frustrating. MQS is a fascinating woman; so much more could have been done with her character. Additionally, Bess is the reason I gave this book two stars rather than one--she's intriguing. Unfortunately, the fascination ends after the 4th and 5th repetitions of the same exact thoughts and actions. Margaret George wrote 870 pages about MQS, and I found the novel compelling. PG phoned in this one.*Full disclosure: I could not go past the halfway point.*

I've recently become interested in learning about Mary, Queen of Scots; this gives an interesting take on the period of her life that seems to be the least talked about, when Mary seeks protection in England and in exchange Queen Elizabeth causes her to become restrained in an English earl's home to make her comfortable, but not technically free. Other depictions I've seen of Mary make her more likable; Gregory portrays her as quite shallow and selfish, yet still fun to read about. The switching up of narrators throughout this book makes it easy for the reader to see how Mary impacted people around her - George, her genteel imprisoner the earl who has been given the contradictory instructions by Queen Elizabeth to treat Mary with respect as a queen deserves but also monitor her to make sure she is not plotting to steal the English throne, finds Mary to be the most irresistible woman despite his undying loyalty to his wife and his queen. George's wife Bess is jealous of Mary for the bewitching effect her beauty has on men and bitter at all the money and assets housing Mary costs her, but she even admits to the reader it is impossible not to warm to Mary. My only criticism of the book is there's so much anticipation as to what will happen between Mary and her "frenemy" Elizabeth and then all of a sudden, it's several years later and there's a quick description of the circumstances of Mary's death, from Bess after she has received the news. I would have liked Mary's first person point of view leading up to her death, so I found the end to be abrupt and lackluster. But up until that point I couldn't put the book down.

I love historical fiction and I usually love Phillipa Gregory's books. But this one didn't quite do it for me. Mary Queen of Scots is an interesting character who led a fascinating life but in this book the best parts are all behind her--France and her marriage to the king, Scotland and her husband and lover. Here she is merely a pawn in everyone's power game. The book is an elaborate chess game where one queen is moved from place to place while the opposing queen tries to decide what to do with her. As well written as it is, it isn't the best of this series.

This book took me a little longer than usual to read, not because of the quality of the writing, but because this was a part of Tudor history I didn't know much about and I found myself constantly looking up the characters and places Gregory mentioned in the book.I think writing this book from 3 different first person perspectives gave an interesting view of the time period. Three different people have three very different views of the same event. I found myself constantly thrown for a loop by Mary. She never thought twice about lying and it was interesting to see how she would portray an event to others, and then how she actually thought of the same event.Bess is one of the best historical fiction characters I've read in a long time. From Gregory's book, as well as the researching I did on my own, I've come to really love her strength and determination. She was a smart business woman and used that to her advantage. She worked her way up and earned the things she had, even if it was through marriage, and worked hard to keep herself safe and secure for the future. I think more women in books should be like her.Yet again, Gregory has me thinking about the little things in history and how one simple decision can change the fate of a country, and the world. While not my favorite book (The Queen's Fool has that title), it was a great read and sheds more light onto the Tudor era of history.

For me, Gregory is hit or miss, and this was mostly a miss.The book is about Mary Queen of Scots exile and imprisonment from the throne. Written in three voices -- Mary, Shrewsbury, and his wife Bess, the latter tasked with housing her.I had just finished the 5th book in this Tudor series and Cecil was the redeeming character. Therefore it was incredibly difficult to slam on the brakes and read of a nasty, scheming Cecil ten years later.I was thoroughly disgusted with Bess, whose "I am an independent woman" shtick grated on my last nerve. Queen Mary is just delusional, and Shrewsbury loses pretty much all regard by the end, and I felt sorry for him.I was deeply disappointed by the ending. Anyone with history behind them knows the Scots queen was beheaded, yet for some inexplicable reason, Gregory chose to cover the entire POINT of the book in a dream sequence of Shrewsbury and the loathsome gloating of Bess. After committing myself to a long, drawn out account of the Queen avoiding The Tower, why didn't the author at the minimum give Mary a final voice?Not the best. I feel like I wasted my time and bought a different book about this instead.

A good summary of Daniel's 70 weeks. If you find this interesting, I would suggest then buying a copy of"The Coming Prince: The Marvelous Prophecy of Daniel's Seventy Weeks Concerning the Antichrist" by Sir Robert Anderson. I have run the calculations along with reading historical accounts for the times involved and the premise seems to be correct. I find it hard to pin them down to an exact day due to discrepancies in historical accounts of events but to get the prophecy to year (and even to the month) is not difficult. Well worth looking into if you wish to study a verifiable fulfilled prophecy with calculation (up to the 69th week).

The doctrine of Daniel's 70 Weeks (from Daniel 9:24-27) is one of the more difficult to understand of the literalist dispensationalist prophetic interpretations. Most fundamentalists reject the gnostic formulas of the cults, date-setters, Bible code-breakers and numerologists who use them to come up with the daftest Biblical predictions imaginable while ignoring the often plain meaning of the scriptures. Yet when confronted with difficult passages like Daniel 9:24-27 (and others related to timeframes recorded in the prophets), fundamentalists have apparently achieved their own formulaic approach. But not so fast. Chuck Missler tackles the issue of Daniel's 70 weeks head-on in this wonderful, 98 page volume. This well-written book takes a look at both the scriptures and the historical timelines supporting the "69 weeks before leading 2,000 years later to the final remaining week in the latter times" concept that makes the doctrine fit the dispensationalist model. And he does so in a simple, easy to read narrative that will help anyone, especially Bible teachers, pastors and students of the Word, understand what the doctrine means and how it fits. I thoroughly enjoy Dr. Missler's writing style. Simple yet erudite. I never feel bogged down or let down by his prose. While I still might have a hard time explaining Daniel's 70 weeks off the top of my head, I feel very confident, after reading this book, that the doctrine is true and this book profitable to make one wise. Buy it. It's Highly Recommended.

Excellent read to understand the incredible book of Daniel. Anything written by Mr. Chuck Missler is sound doctrinally and robust in its background information. Daniel is a "Must Read" book for the times we live in as it clearly shows us gentile history like no other book. It also clearly shows us how God is in total control of All governments and uses leaders (saved and unsaved) to bring about His purposes of disciplining His children, Jew or gentile. If you are doing a study on Daniel, or just want to know what this Time-sensative book is all about, read Daniel's 70 Weeks by Chuck Missler. You will come away more informed than you would have thought possible.

This is one of the most concise and well presented books on that most important connection between the prophecies of Daniel and that that was and that which is unfolding today. I would encourage Christians to obtain this book and be lead through one of the most relative prophecies that is unfolding before our very eyes today. A source of certainty in a world currently writhing in a quagmire of disinformation and false news. This book will sharpen your discernment as a Christian today and give you an expectation of the greatest hope on our near horizon.

I will be going to other resource material of Chuck Missler as he makes me want to study more deeply the things of GOD & the prophets!I will be recommending his books to all my friends & my children who are pre-believers!

I never really took time to read the book of Daniel before. I had read parts of it to reference other studies such as Revelation. Now I am understanding how important it is for me to share the soon coming of our Lord and Savior JESUS Christ. It is time to pray and lovingly share with those who don't know Him. I have been reading my Bible for over 40 years - what a revelation. Thank YOU LORD

This is an overview of Daniel,and various other scriptures that tie in with it. Has some very interesting insights and observations. Not an argument in support of any current doctrine. Highly recommend this book for anyone interested in eschatology.

I bought this book to complement my textbook 'New American Commentary Vol. 18: Daniel' for my biblical prophecy course as I had an essay to write requiring additional sources. Overall I felt it was pretty accurate, and the parts I disagreed with weren't really doctrinal in nature. I would definitely recommend NAC V18 for an in-depth study of Daniel, but this is a really good overview and I like that it addresses our current issues and how Daniel is applicable. Missler is always informative and entertaining when it comes to eschatology, and I look forward to reading more of his work. I purchased the audio for an additional $1.99 and I believe it took about 3 hours as I read along, so it is a fairly short read.
