I didn't buy this book because I want to stand on a stage and tell stories about my life. I got it to help me create a graphic novel memoir and I wanted some technique on how to take memories from my childhood and to craft them into something that has structure and meaning. I certainly got that, along with a very entertaining book that is full of great tips, fabulous stories, and homework that I've been doing regularly. I read this book with a highlighter in one hand, and a notebook in the other. And all the while I flipped through the pages absorbing his lessons, ideas came to me. I wrote them all down. I located the themes in my own stories. I worked out key points. And I even cut bits. All while reading Storyworthy. It has jumpstarted my own project. Thanks for that, Matt.Matt says at the end of the book that he aims to be entertaining, and he certainly is that. It's a fun read that I would happily recommend to anyone, because we all tell stories, and it's nice to have a little help along the way.

I heard Matt Dicks on the Art of Manliness podcast, (one of my favorites, you should check it out) just last week. I LOVED his concept of Homework For Life and started doing it that very night. I also told my two 30-something grown children to perhaps do the same thing, sending them links to the Art of Manliness podcast and Matt's TedTalk about Homework for Life. Then, I took a DEEP dive myself. I started with the two most recent of the related podcasts from Matt & his wife Elysha, decided to go back to the beginning of the podcasts and started from there, ordered the book from Amazon, decided that 2 days was too long to wait, so downloaded the audiobook right then.In less than three days, I'd listened to the entire book, listened to 2/3rds of the podcast, AND started reading the book itself. Needless to say, I am smitten. I truly wish that there was a Moth or Speak Up venue here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Since there isn't, I'll be making a pilgrimage up to Hartford sometime next year.

It's winter break. The wind howls outside and I'm cozy but bored inside. So I buy Storyworthy, hoping it'll offer tips to improve my writing.Kill my boredom while improving myself? It sounds too good to be true. And it might be. In an era of blogs-posing-as-books, where everyone wears the guise of a guru, I have no confidence Storyworthy will be $9.99 worthy.Yet, just a few pages in, Mathew Dicks destroys any apprehensions I had. The book is full of actionable advice and solid examples that exemplify the suggestions. My copy is full of highlights I love ok to whenever I take on a new writing project. I even have a "cheat-sheet" with terms like "Elephant" and "Back-Packing" bullet-pointed with definitions for quick reference. While I had hoped to improve my writing, Storyworthy has had a trickle down effect to my conversations and social life.Take it from a serial cheapskate, Storyworthy is worth every penny.

I liken this to Stephen King’s On Writing, which I loved. They both have entertaining autobiographical information and elements of crafting a story, but this book is way more applicable in terms of building actual stories. With that said, even if your end game isn’t crafting stories, Matthew Dicks implements methods of capturing memories such as the crash and burn exercise to storing fresh memories with Homework for Life. This book is chock full of valuable information given in a very charming and captivating way. I would really recommend this book to just about anyone.

I am laying next to my wife of 15 years and taking the extra time to highlight this is a great book. I read chapters to her because I liked the tales. She let me read aloud because she likes them now too. She got to hear why I chuckled and even cried as I read.Matt taught me about present tense, but, location, five seconds, imagery, and dragging folks into a past. I have already started his task and working to improve how I save my thoughts.I love to read and hate to write. I love listening to a great moving story. This books helps me better appreciate a great stories. However, with a bit more practice it might also help me make my stories more interesting.

I heard Mr. Dick's interview on the Art of Manliness podcast and was deeply impressed. So I shared the podcast with my brother, who is writing about his training for the ididarod, and my daughter, who wants to be a writer. Then, I bought this on audiobook and have been listening to it and loving it. I started doing Homework For Life last night and the ideas for stories just kept coming. But so did the insights. The strangest of which was realizing that I need to ask my best friend if he would speak at my funeral. I also started to wonder if secrets of story-telling are like stories themselves, in that maybe there are many, many secrets out there and that in his act of giving them away, Mr. Dicks will probably find even more, in which case I look forward to reading that book too!

This book was life changing for me! So much wisdom and helpful information. Truly one of the best books on storytelling I've ever read/listened to. I bought both the ebook and audiobook because it's that good! The author is funny, so the book is entertaining as well as informative. I could see "Storyworthy" being used in a course on communication. A must read for anyone who functions in the real world or wants to speak from the stage!

Matt is the rare person who can both teach and do what he teaches. In this book he shares the techniques that make him a master storyteller.

Ondaatje is a bit of an acquired taste. I enjoyed Divisadero well enough. There are long stretches where it's a pretty fascinating read. But he jumps around from character to character--and also forward and back in time. See his "Anil's Ghost". His novels are sort of like a car that's fun to drive around the block---or maybe even across town. But you wouldn't want to take a long road trip in one.

This book was our book group selection for the discussion on April 13, 2014. Not everyone enjoyed the book. Some were very disappointed in the organization of the book since it did not seem to have a normal follow up of the main characters but instead, essentially left you hanging. It also seemed to be several books not quite tightly tied together. Even the continuous trail of the characters was divided by events and the life afterwards seemed barely connected to the previous. But this is after all what the title is all about. It names not only a road that divides San Francisco from the Presidio but also a point where a person can see far off. There is also the interesting possibility that a reader can view the similarities and dissimilarities between the characters as marks of division as well, as if they reflect the difference decision points can make it the outcomes of a person's life. Some characters do similar things over and over again. Coop gets the same result for the same offence twice and rescued both times by the same person despite the odds of this happening. What many did find great about the book were lines that seemed especially beautiful and thought provoking. The language is skillfully done. The literary references when you caught them ran throughout. Note the color blue for example. So while some may not have enjoyed the book itself looking for more normal novel fare, the discussion about it was great and as usual we all learned more about it than any one reading of it could have achieved on its own. Book groups. A really great way to read.

Michael Ondaatje is a poet, and even as a novelist he writes as one. I don't mean simply his mastery of the English language; that is a given. At times, he is almost Olympian, as when describing the metamorphosis of a marriage: "There would be years of compatibility, and then bitterness, and who knew when that line was traversed, on what night, at what hour. Over what betrayal. They slipped over this as over a faint rise in the road, like a small vessel crossing the equator unaware, so that in fact their whole universe was now upside down." But he can switch effortlessly to the here and now, describing a fight in a thunderstorm, or a poker game in a casino, with an immediacy that makes the writing almost invisible. He can conjure up images that fix themselves indelibly on the cinema of the mind (or on the big screen, as anybody who has seen the movie of THE ENGLISH PATIENT will know); my favorite is a two-page description of a gypsy boy and his horse caught in a total eclipse in the South of France. One sentence must suffice: "Grey rain started falling in the half-light, though it was the wind that bewildered everything, arcing the trees down so they hovered almost parallel to the ground."Ondaatje cannot describe what happens without also evoking how it feels. But he seldom attempts to describe a feeling directly. Rather, he creates something else to stand beside it, illuminating it by association, from the side rather than full on. A simple example is the consummation of the marriage between a French peasant, Roman, and his very young bride. He goes out in the moonlight to wash in the rain barrel outside the cottage door; after a while, she follows him and washes also. "After that she turned and put her arms out along the thick rim of the barrel where in the water was the moon and the ghost of her face. Roman moved against her, and in the next while, whatever surprise there was, whatever pain, there was also the frantic moon in front of her shifting and breaking into pieces in the water." In terms of narrative, Ondaatje could have set this scene anywhere, or omitted it entirely; but in terms of its place in the emotional balance of the whole novel, nothing else would have been so powerful or so evocative. Images of this kind, based on imagination rather than logic, are the essence of Ondaatje's poetic sensibility. What of the story? The back-cover blurb is true as far as it goes: "In the 1970s in Northern California a father and his teenage daughters, Anna and Claire, work their farm with the help of Coop, an enigmatic young man who makes his home with them. Theirs is a makeshift family, until it is shattered by an incident of violence that sets fire to the rest of their lives. . . . As the narrative moves back and forth through time and place, we find each of these characters trying to gain some foothold in a present shadowed by the past." After the violent beginning (whose nature I shall not reveal), the story moves forward several decades, though with frequent flashbacks. Coop, private and principled and extremely likeable, has unexpectedly become a professional gambler. Claire is a legal aide in San Francisco; her path will eventually re-cross his, bringing about a sort of partial ending two-thirds of the way through the book. Anna has become an author under a different name, writing biographies (or biographical novels; it is never quite clear) about minor French literary figures. Currently, she is working on a poet called Lucien Segura, and staying in the house where he spent his last years; these scenes in a remote part of Southern France make a wonderful contrast to those in California and Nevada. But just where you might expect Ondaatje to pull everything together, he drops Coop, Claire, and Anna almost entirely, and starts a new set of stories about Segura's younger years, his loves and marriage, his experiences in the First World War, and the gypsy family he befriends when he buries himself in his last retreat. The whole texture of the book changes. These are engaging vignettes, created in short chapters, poetical and imagistic rather than factual, and this reader was soon swept up in them as though by a new novel. Indeed, I found that I couldn't stop reading once this section had started, partly out of sheer affection for the characters and delight in the writing, but partly to discover how Ondaatje would finally tie the two parts of the book together. Somewhere along the line, I began to realize that he wouldn't -- except in the sense that Segura's story was essentially being told (or perhaps invented) by Anna, in much the same way that the story of the two lovers in Ian McEwan's ATONEMENT is extended in the writing of the younger sister Briony. So far from this being a single sweeping canvas, as the cover suggests, it is constructed as a diptych: two separate panels (Ondaatje himself uses this image, in a different context) that enter into a dialogue with each other rather than connecting directly.DIVISADERO? There is a street of that name in San Francisco, where Anna apparently lived for a while, but the novel does not take place there. The sense of the word as "division" or "break" is obviously appropriate for this family parted by passion and scattered through space. But Anna points out that the word may also derive from the Spanish "divisar," to look at something from a distance. By the end of the book, Anna is indeed looking on from a distance, exploring her life in art, as Nietzsche once said, so as not to be destroyed by the truth. This is essentially what any great novelist does, and with it Ondaatje invites the reader into the heart of his craft. Yet he gives us an even greater gift; by avoiding literal connections between his two stories, but instead inspiring our imagination and trusting us to find our own parallels, he gets us not only to read his words as a poet, but to think and feel as poets in ourselves.

From one of the greatest living authors on the planet, 'Divisadero' rates close to his best, 'In the Skin of A Lion'. Ondaatje has an ability bettered by no other to get into the skin of his characters and under the skin of any reader fortunate enough to enter his world of the extraordinary fashioned from the not so ordinary. Emotion and texture, words as the carrier, are his tools, and have no doubt he is a master.Disaster throws a boy, Coop, into the hard life of a rural family, a father with twin girls, in 70s California, a world that feels more like early Cormac McCarthy than Frisco's Haight-Ashbury. A kind of romance, a tenderness of dispossession, causes a terrible incident and their lives are split asunder. One sister becomes a librarian and tunnels into the life of a 19th C French writer's fragmented life, Coop becomes a small time pro gambler run foul of a syndicate, the other twin (perhaps) a pawn in their game of entrapment. What comes haphazardly together again reveals the damaged destinies of family, of the twin hearts, of history, chance, and the ties that blind.

Had to force myself to finish this for book group. It is really two separate stories, or books. You read one "book" about a person, then that one is left hanging and you're on to the next. Some characters, you never found out what eventually became of them. So annoying, because Ondaatje can certainly write, and the reader starts off feeling quite engaged with these people. A great disappointment.

Its comprehensive and integrated presentation of language design and implementation illustrates and explains admirably the many deep and profitable connections among these fields." ―Jim Larus, Microsoft Research"This book is the best and most complete on this topic that I've seen."  ―Klaus Ostermann, Darmstadt University of Technology

great book if you are taking courses on programming language and compilers courses. I bought this book for my course because it was recommended by my Professor, but I will be keeping it even after the completion of the course. I got the ebook version. Too good!

I would highly recommend this book for the seasoned developer. The author has a dry sense of humor in writing (to this very dry topic), and much of the language is lost if the reader does not have a solid foundation in programming languages; which I did not. When purchased, I started to read, and immediately thought my new career move should be abandoned. However, after purchasing books that are at the beginner level, I am thoroughly enjoying Scott's book, as with each reading, I 'get" more of what he is writing about.Even beginners should buy this book. Put it in clear view on the bookshelf, and work towards it.

If you don’t know how programming languages work, I would say this is your book. It contains plenty of examples in different languages. It explains the trade-offs and internals in a very accessible language. The way to explain the different compiler stages and features is very natural. If you are looking for a concrete topic it is in the book.On the other hand, the book contains complementary stuff in a CD. Along the book some topics are covered in digital content only. One extreme case is the last chapter “Code Improvement”, it is digital entirely. It would be great if all chapters had a minimal ‘core’ of content. By the way, the bibliography would be more useful in digital format only.Great book on programming languages!

Overall, "Programming Language Pragmatics" (PLP) is a very good book. According to the Preface:"It aims, quite simply, to be the most comprehensive and accurate languages text available, in a style that is engaging and accessible to the typical undergraduate....At its core, PLP is a book about how programming languages work. Rather than enumerate the details of many different languages, it focuses on concepts that underlie all the languages the student is likely to encounter, illustrating those concepts with a variety of concrete examples, and exploring the tradeoffs that explain why different languages were designed in different ways."I'm not knowledgeable enough to pass judgment on "the most comprehensive and accurate" part. But, I'm pretty happy about the book meeting the rest of those goals. I read through the book on my own and have only a few significant gripes:- Chapters 2 (Programming Language Syntax) and 4 (Semantic Analysis) are tough to get through. They're basically trying to teach enough about Alphabets, Languages, Regular Expressions, Context-Free Grammars, Finite Automata and Push-Down Automata for the reader to understand what the rest of the book is based on. I've read Cohen's Introduction to Computer Theory, which is dedicated solely to this material and I still had some trouble. With an instructor in a class to walk through the things, it should be doable. But, for a person reading the book on his own, ugh.- All of Section III: Alternative Programming Models, seems to depart from the format of the rest of the book (as noted in the Preface) where the author talks about the concepts and then how the different languages implement them. Instead, he focuses on the languages themselves and almost seems to be trying to cram a primer into his text. Since the section seems to be a special case, it wouldn't be so bad except that the languages covered are a bit out of the mainstream and so that degree of depth gets pretty unreadable at times. Again, with a professor around, things would be better.- At a more pedagogical level, the author has a tendency to merely explain what his example Figures are doing in general terms. The problem is that a lot of the code/pseudocode involves fairly advanced structures in several languages (many of which most people won't have run across). It would have made things a lot easier if he had walked his way through each of those Figures line-by-line and explained what each line did. Once again, this wouldn't be that much of a problem in a normal teaching environment since a professor could do it.Other than those three things, this is a very good and readable book. I rate it at four stars out of five.

Over the years the Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools (2nd Edition) (also knwon as the dragon book) has become the de facto standard for introducing compilers and related topics at universities. This is very unfortunate because "Programming Language Pragmatics" is in a completely different league and should be the one used instead. It gives the student (or the self taught) a complete and through overview of parsing, grammar, automata theory and other key language constructs. What really differentiates this book from others (and most notably the (in)famous "Dragon Book") is that it does so in a easy to understand manner and with lots of well written examples. Many people find compiler and language theory to be dark magic, and it would be wrong not to acknowledge that these subjects are considerably harder than say creating a web page in PHP or writing a small Java/C# program. But much of the confusion also stems from the long history of porly written books which all have lacked explaining key areas or assumed that the readers just know some obscure CS topics beforehand. This book does not travel down that road, it is well written, contains both simple and advanced examples and is simply a delightful read.

Programming Language Pragmatics seems to be held in fairly high regard among those in computer science. Though I can't fathom why and I struggle to understand who the book is for. This text seems to assume prior knowledge in automata theory, compiler design, and formal language theory which, if you are using this book for an undergraduate programming languages class, is not very likely. Programming Language Pragmatics contains walls of text that, despite being incredibly dense, don't communicate concepts effectively. It has some interesting insights into the philosophies and design decisions behind programming languages but it is marred by poor organization and lack of clarity. If this is a required text, I'd wait to find out if your teacher actually assigns homework out of it before buying this monstrosity.

About as thorough a survey of programming languages and their design challenges/decisions as I could imagine. However, conspicuously omits some of the newer languages from much of its discussion, so -1 star.

The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play and the Erotic Edge, by Tristan Taormino Barbara Carrellas

Review

"Whatever you’re into, whatever you try, the authors want you to do it right, consensually, and safely."—A Roll in the Hay"I can't recommend this enough."—Krissy Novacaine"It's essential reading. Each chapter focuses on a different kink, and each is written by a different expert in that field. It is an excellent tome for introducing someone to kink and for deepening your own interests (if by chance you are into that kind of thing). Contributors include Patrick Califia, Midori, Laura Antoniou, Barbara Carrellas, Lee Harrington, Jack Rinella, Lolita Wolf, Madison Young, Hardy Haberman, Felice Shays, Ignacio Rivera, Sarah Sloane, Mollena Williams, Fifth Angel, and Edge, writing about spanking, bondage, fisting, rough sex, domination, submission, masochism, sadism, tantra, and role play, among others. This is a rock star sex educator lineup which includes just about everything you'd need to know to pique your interest, juice up your Fetlife profile, and get yourself out into the world of leather, BDSM, and kink. It's not a substitute for hands-on learning, classes for which are abundant in most major cities, but it will get you started and deepen your understanding of any of these topics—be they brand new to you or something you'd like to deepen. Tristan Taormino, as usual, gathered the definitive words on the most common kink skills and philosophies, and this book is essential reading for kinky and queer sexual adventures."—Lambda Literary Summer 2012 Cliterotica Review"It will educate, inspire, and challenge both newcomers to the world of kink and experienced BDSM players."—Erotica Readers and Writers Association"Enter The Ultimate Guide to Kink. This opens that door for people to embark on that journey of knowledge and understanding, through unique and honest insight from people really in the know. I actually think that’s one of the books greatest appeals; rather than this just being a general guide describing various forms and subtypes of kink, it really takes you into the world of each topic. And, I believe, this has been achieved so very well because Tristan Taormino has sought out some of the most experienced and knowledgeable people for each topic, to talk about their special areas of interest and expertise (I have included a complete list of contributors and the chapters they wrote at the end of this review), giving the reader the feeling that they really are getting a genuine and authentic insiders view."–Distinctly Female"In this collection Taormino smoothly manages the difficult task of creating a book that can speak to a wide range of audiences. The Ultimate Guide to Kink provides what I imagine is an approachable and welcoming introduction to many aspects of BDSM play that I wish I’d had available to me when I jumped into BDSM a decade ago. From Felice Shay’s chapter on “Playing with Rough Sex” to edgier and taboo role play like “Digging in the Dirt: The Lure of Taboo Role Play” by Mollena Williams, the book truly has something for folks of all experience levels, from a beginner who’s curious about exploring to more experienced readers interested in being challenged by discussion of kink community/culture, edge play and consensually pushing our limits. The Ultimate Guide to Kink is a landmark collection destined to be a touchstone classic to recommend to anyone interested in BDSM exploration."—Lambda Literary"An informed and informative 475-page compendium focusing upon diverse verse varieties of unconventional human sexuality, The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play and the Erotic Edge by Tristan Taormino provides 'user friendly' techniques and creative ideas for bondage, spanking, flogging, sensation play, rough sex, and incorporating alternative sexual activities into one's sex life. Of special note is the information presented on sexual role-play fantasy. Clearly for an adult readership only, The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play and the Erotic Edge is highly recommended and instructive reading for men and women seeking to expand their experiences with respect to their sexuality."—Midwest Book Review"This book is exactly what you need if you have ever had questions about kink. This book is such a nice introduction into kink, and it is also an instructional guide if you are not sure where to begin."—Kissin Blue Karen"If you have ever wondered about kink then you need to pick up this book. This book will answer all of you questions. If you are curious about kink or an old hand at it this is a book you need to add to your collection. There are chapters on role-playing, dominance, submission, and much much more. If you are new to kink this book explains the different types of things you can try as well as a having a safeword. There is a chapter that shows you how to do bondage using ropes or scarves. There are tips and techniques. They even talk about aftercare at the end of the chapters. This is the complete deal."—Night Owl Reviews“So many of the people who write me at ‘Savage Love’ are curious about kink — some days it accounts for half the mail — but they don’t know where to start. I’m going to be recommending this collection of essays. This is more than just a guide to kink, it’s more than a sex manual. Editor Tristan Taormino has brought the players, thinkers, and rock stars of the kink scene and together they have created a book that not only lets people know where to start, but why to start, and what they’ll get out of it. Vanillas, novices, old hands, old guard — everyone can learn from this collection.”—Dan Savage"Tristan Taormino has gifted us with a magnificent collection of essays from kinkdom's finest educators: consider it required reading for every kinkster who lives life on the hot side."—Dossie Easton, co-author of The New Topping Book and The New Bottoming Book"Tristan Taormino has created a perfect compendium of kink that covers the nuts and bolts (with illustrations!) of spanking, bondage, role-playing, rough sex and much more, as well as the philosophies, motivations and deeply personal experiences of an array of BDSM players. If "Brutal Affection" sounds like an oxymoron to you, read on. Keep a copy in your bedroom—and your toy bag!"Rachel Kramer Bussel, Editor, Spanked and Best Sex Writing 2012"Finally, a smart, comprehensive, and brave book on kinky sex for this generation. Tristan Taormino's Ultimate Guide to Kink is the first really good new book on the subject in years. BDSM and kink aficionados are lifelong learners, endlessly fascinated with their own sexual and personal growth. They do love their sex guides! I expect this to be the BDSM bible for the next decade." — Felice Newman, author of The Whole Lesbian Sex Book

This book just seems like it hasn't nailed down what its audience actually is. For example, the two sections of the book both begin assuming you're a rank novice who doesn't know what S&M is an abbreviation of, and who has never played dirty-cop with a sex partner. And that's great - I'm always on the hunt for beginner-friendly books, things I can pass along to my friends for education or entertainment. But then it moves onto essays on animal roleplay, or age play, or Mollena Williams' piece on edge play that includes scenes of rape, incest, gay-bashing, and a bit where a handicapped person gets thrown out of their wheelchair and beaten, and I go "oh thank god I didn't lend this to anyone yet." Don't get me wrong - these essays are brilliantly written, informative, and interesting, and definitely worth reading, but they are probably not necessary or useful in a book that *seems* to be aimed at beginners. So, in short, even though it seems (to me) like a book for newbies, I would NOT recommend it for beginners or novices unless they're unflappable or you're trying to scare the pants off them, or they're reading it in conjunction with many other books on the subject.

I have always been curious about kink. When you watch a movie or tv with kink included in a scene, there seems to be a focus on the physical rather than the mental. As a psychology major, I am more interested in the mental aspect. This guide gives a lot of both.

If you are kinky, or think you may be kinky, or you hope to possibly find out that you're kinky, I can't recommend this book enough. I don't care how long you've been in the scene, or how many pins are on your bar vest, you should have a copy of this book! I guarantee that there will be something in it that you didn't know, or haven't tried, or haven't looked at in quite that way before. And chances are very, very good that there will be something among those new areas that will make you curious, if not tempted. The ultimate guide to kink is a fantastic variety of essays on so many different ways to express our kinky sides, all written by people who really know their stuff in the area they're writing about. While I didn't recognize all of the names in the list of authors, I recognized enough for it to read like a Who's Who of the BDSM education circuit, all grouped together in one convenient tome to tell you all about the areas about which they're most passionate. While the voices differ (understandably) they are all thoughtful, insightful, passionate, well-written, well-edited and arranged with a flow that makes you want to read the whole thing in one sitting, cover-to-cover. And sexy! This book is put together in such a way that even for the things that might not be "my kink" I couldn't help but feel the erotic charge that was brought to the table by those who love it. This is one seriously hawt book. The book is definitely more geared toward letting their voices of its contributors shine than on bombarding you with pretty pictures and illustrations (which suits me just fine,) but there are enough diagrams in certain sections, particularly bondage and fisting, that if you choose to pick up the ebook copy instead of the paper one I suggest you install it on a computer or larger tablet as well. I found the labelling on the diagrams illegible on my 6" kindle screen. The book also does an excellent job of reminding us about what's important about all that kinky stuff that we so love: we do it because we love it, and it only works when everyone involved is getting something (positive) out of it. Consent, negotiation, and safer sex practices are critical, and I'm grateful that all the contributors to this book can't stress that fact enough. Bah, I can just hear some of you muttering, that stuff's for sissy amateurs, real kinksters can't be bothered with those things! To those hypothetical detractors I say: Take another look at the list of contributors to this book, really look at that list of names, and I double-dog-dare you to tell me that that list of kinky superstarts aren't "real" knksters. Go on. I triple-dog dare you.My rating: 5/5 caged and red-cheeked puppy-boys.

Tried tying my cat up and she wasn’t having any of it. Still licking my wounds. They should put a warning on the book “Don’t use on animals”. Or at least “Use at your own risk when tying up your cat”.

If the title had been different, I would have given more stars.... The essays were good, but this was by no means a "guide" to kink. I adore Tristan Taormino, but this one got left in the donation bin at my local play space.

Really kind of lame. A basic internet search would give better information...

This is a great collection of essays on various BDSM related topics written by a group of phenomenal writers that should be read by both tops and bottoms. The people who have contributed to this book really know what they're talking about and is a great addition to any BDSM library.

If you've ever wondered where to go to get good kink information this is the book to read. With wonderful illustrations, examples, and just plain old easy to understand common sense for those who don't even know where to begin. The Ultimate Guide will help you come to terms with some of your lightest and hopefully with some of your darkest kinks all the while enforcing the understanding that consent and safety and key to all healthy kinky and non kink relationships.
